At home at last!
We had lots of visits our first couple of days home. Matthew was given lots of nice toys, clothes, and books. Cousins Katie and Caleb really enjoyed having a "baby" to play with, while Emma and Ben were a bit jealous. Ben recovered quickly while Emma refused to call Matthew by his name. She kept referring to him as Cara's new boy. She wanted to sleep in his bed and be carried around. Matthew didn't seem phased at all by being in a new home. He ate lots and lots, went to sleep easily and was very cheerful. He slept with us in our bed for about 10 days before we put him in his toddler bed next to our bed. He slept there for about two weeks before we put him in a crib. He was wondering around our room after we were asleep, in fact he scared me to death when he grabbed my nose in the middle of the night. He screamed for about 4 days when we put him to bed, but now he seems to like his crib.

A week after we arrived home my sisters threw a baby shower for us. It was very nice. Matthew received so many nice things plus we received many things in the mail.

The holidays were busy, Jeff's brother and his family came from Colorado to meet Matthew. All his new cousins really like playing with him. Matthew loved opening gifts, we are concerned that he thinks he will get presents all the time.

I went back to work part time after the new year and Matthew went to my sister Laura's house since she didn't go back to school until the end of January. When Laura went back to school, Matthew went to Marlene's. She is a great babysitter who has a daycare behind her house in a neat building. Emma, Ben, and Lucas (our neighbor boy who is 3) all go to Marlene's also. Katie and Caleb go there before and sometimes after school. He is getting used to being there now that I am working more and more (it is tax season you know).

Matthew had to go to lots of doctor appointments when we arrived home. He had a physical, blood work, 3 vaccinations at the regular doctor. He went to an eye doctor for his lazy eye, but she apparently didn't see what everyone else sees so we plan to take him to another eye doctor. He went to the urologist to be circumcised, I wasn't sure about having that done. The doctor said it needed to be done because of a condition he had with the foreskin. So he was circumcised right after Christmas. He was just fine, he was put under and besides being a bit tired he didn't miss a beat.
