Day 23 Wednesday

Vanya suprised us by showing up a day early. He said he likes the bible verse about the theif in the night so he didn't tell us he was coming. He arrived at around 9 am and started chasing paperwork again. We are one step closer to a court date-both social workers from each boy's city council approved our paperwork and it is on a train to Kiev right now with Vanya. They have several days to approve it, then he will bring it back here and submitt it for a court date-which we can't get until something is done with the lawsuit the other family filed against the SDA.He is working on it, so hopefully both things will get straightened out next week. We didn't go see either boy today, we were chasing paperwork when it was time to see Vasya-but he probably wasn't there anyway. Then we couldn't get a bus to go see Sasha, it turned cold and rainy so every bus was packed with people and we couldn't get one to stop. So we decided it was time for a day off anyway.

Have I mentioned how good the ice cream is here? It is delicious, I know I am not supposed to eat it but my stomach doesn't act up it I go to sleep soon after I eat it. The chocolate is delicious, the vanilla is great and the strawberry is fantastic. It come in bags and costs about about 14 grivna or about $1.95.
This trip has been a lot less stressful than our last trip, we know that anything can happen, we know God is in control and we are busy chasing Matthew. I don't mean to insult anyone's way of life, but I don't know how people can raise kids in big cities. The only place he gets to just run around is at the orphanages--because they are fenced in. He misses his big dumptrucks, he says that about three times a day.

Enjoy, if you can, your time in Ukraine. Wow, do I EVER miss the ice cream! Do you think you could mail me some via 'slow boat' shipping? :-)

What is the exchange rate these days over there, is it about 4.5 to $1? It used to be about 5:1.
